Events held in City parks (except for pavilion rentals), or that require the closure of any city street or parking lot require a special event permit. To apply for a permit, you must complete the special event permit application and submit it to the Community Development office. Once submitted, it will be reviewed by staff and submitted to the City Council for their approval. You must receive council approval for your permit to be valid. Please plan to submit your application no less than three weeks in advance of the date of your special event to allow time for processing. The special event application can be found here
The City’s compost facility is located at 1303 W. State Road. The compost facility is open seasonally on Saturdays from 9am – 2pm and on Mondays from 3pm – 6pm. The site is open in the warm weather months in spring, summer, and fall seasons. Opening and closing dates are weather dependent and subject to change without notice. The facility accepts compostable materials from City residents only. Composted items must originate from property located within the City of Hastings. Park pavilions may be reserved by contacting City Hall and completing the Park Reservation Form. Park pavilion reservations for residents or taxpaying property owners is $50. Non-residents can reserve the pavilions for $80. A park use clean up fee charge of $80 is applied to reservations that include groups of 50 or more people. Entertainment venues including the spray plaza stage and Thornapple Plaza are available to rent by the hour. Please contact City Hall for updated fees.

The City contracts building permitting and inspections to Professional Code Inspections (PCI). To apply for a permit, visit www.pcimi.com or call 269-948-4088 for information. PCI offices are open weekdays from 8:00am – 4:30pm.
